a festival not only of music but somewhere to expand your mind” – Getintothis

Coming to you live from Jodrell Bank Observatory, Blue Dot Festival is an award winning 4 day event consisting of live music, science and activities that are fun for the whole family. Not only is the line-up packed with great artists and stages, the event also offers science talks, star gazing and so much more.

2019 was a whirlwind of adventure, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing, Bluedot Festival brought us the First British Astronaut, an exhibit on the smells of space and even bounced voice messages off the moon!

Bluedot always offers an exciting range of music, 2019 brought the only UK performance by Kraftwerk, the amazing synth-pop stylings of Hot Chip and the spectacular Halle orchestra performing a range of sci-fi pieces from movies and TV set to stunning visuals.

With New Order closing the festival and previous headliners that include The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Goldfrapp and Everything Everything, we know that 2020 will bring more amazing acts to Jodrell Bank Observatory.

Around the site you can find yourself stumbling across a science talk, learning all about space in the Planetarium or just taking a nice walk through the beautiful Arboretum. Sample culinary delights from around the world while immersing yourself in the amazing atmosphere, set against the backdrop of the legendary Lovell Telescope.
